Do-It-Yourself 3D printing with metal
In many ways, this was my first foray into open source designing. I created the plans for this small DIY printer as part of a project I promoted on IndieGoGo. All of the objects and source code are freely available to download through GitHub. After the project was through, I also wrote an illustrated a comprehensive book, which pulls it all together into an easy-to-follow workshop like experience. You can purchase a download here if you are interested.
I've received some excellent feedback about setting up such projects in the future, and also some great pictures of personal projects built by makers from around the world. It's really fun to see your designs realized in someone else's workshop. What would you print with one of these? Would you use metal clay or chocolate or would you be the type of person to fill it with living cells and experiment with bio-engineering?
If you make a MMM, please share your stories & photos with me! I would love to be able to include a link to your projects page here on my blog.
